BIOGRAPHY
Penny and Ashtray were formed in 2005 in Osaka by Momoyo Kubo and Tamotsu Ide, with their one ThinkPad and one GameBoy. After a few digital releases on the early chiptune netlabels, a funky & bleepy vinyl '12-inch Floppy Disko' was welcomed by many minimal/electro DJs. On the first album 'The Secrets of Galaxy Z' (2008), they expanded the range of their songwriting, from software emulation of good old quality music to experimental glitch disco tune. In the following three years, Penny and Ashtray produced new songs inspired by mainstream pop culture, and now signed to Space Raiders whose motto is brave and cheap.
